Choose Your Tournament:

There are two divisions in this fundraising tournament: Participation on Island Lake, Duluth, Minnesota or a Virtual Tournament on any lake. Both divisions are a Catch, Photo, Release format. The tournament formats and rules may be subject to change depending on local, state and federal guidelines. You must be registered with one of the two divisions and raised the appropriate amount of money to participate and to be eligible for tournament prizes.

Island Lake Tournament

  • This is a live, in-person tournament on Island Lake in Saint Louis County, approximately 20 minutes north of Duluth, MN.

  • Registration begins at 5pm on Friday, June 2nd at the University of Minnesota Duluth's Ward Wells Field House, where anglers complete their paperwork, collect their boat number and receive a gift bag. This is also an opportunity to turn in donations and raffle tickets, view silent and live auction items, check out the fundraising incentive prizes and enjoy a complimentary BBQ dinner courtesy of Famous Dave’s. A tournament welcome program will be conducted, and the boat draw will take place. The Friday night program and boat draw will be streamed live on our Facebook page.
  • Anglers launch on Island Lake Reservoir Saturday morning, in one of four flights, starting at 7:00am.

  • Anglers fish for walleye (6 maximum) and/or bass (5 maximum). Anglers may catch more than the maximum, as the FishDonkey application keeps track of the longest fish.

Virtual Tournament

  • Anglers participating virtually anywhere can fish on any body of water on Saturday, June 3, 2023 anytime between 7am to 2pm.

  • Anglers fish for walleye, bass, northern pike or crappie.

  • Anglers catching the single longest fish in each species will be recognized.

Casting for a Cure

Proceeds from the Kolar Toyota ALS Fishing Tournament benefit individuals living with ALS and their families. ALS is a progressive neuro-degenerative disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. ALS usually strikes people between the ages of 40 - 70, but it can strike anyone at any time. Although there is no cure or treatment yet, we are committed to helping these families in need.

We are united in Casting for a Cure of ALS.
