Time doesn’t heal all wounds. Time does however, make the days without my dad a little easier to bear. It’s made it so that I can see his light in my kids, especially when they get really excited about cheese. Or like last week when Adrienne was set on bringing a picture of her grandpa to show and tell. I’ve been working on recognizing that time is precious, but not worrying about it. I’ve been learning that actually dealing with grief takes a lot of time, and is so important. I’ve learned that I don’t have to fear the grief, because it will come and in time it will go.

This year we'll be fishing in his honor again, and with more hope that a cure is not far away! The changes that this beautiful state of MN has made, making access to care better and easier for patients with ALS, make me feel so proud! Minnesota also made research a top priority, and for that I couldn’t be happier. With reassurance that this amazing team at NSI will continue on working to make the lives of people with ALS better and longer, I’ll be out there in that little boat again. Did we tell you that last year we got stuck and the motor quit working? Leroy promises that won’t happen again… guess we’ll see! We really only keep this boat so that we can participate in this fundraiser, so as you can imagine it’s not quite up to par with the incredible equipment some of these fishermen have. Ha! We may not win, but we'll fish our hearts out with the hope that this year, we'll catch at least one fish. We'll be fishing with an angel cheering us on.
