Welcome to My Personal Page
Please Support Me...
Linda and I send our sincere condolences to everyone who lost a loved one to COVID-19 or another cause. Many of you know someone who lost that battle, and now, most of the world knows what it is like living with a terrible health condition that could change their lives dramatically. Those who survived COVID-19 are hoping and praying to return to "Life as Normal" and they DESERVE it. However, families living with Lou Gherig's Disease will not return to pre-ALS days. They will continue living with that dark cloud of ALS hanging over them, controlling their every breath, and making life more difficult for them and their families every day.
Staying involved in the ALS Fight has put my family in a whole new world and connected me to many different people from all over the country. The connections to families fighting ALS on the frontline has shown me what real strength is all about. My 3-year participation in the Biogen Clinical Trial and helping other ALS organizations fighting ALS has shown me how passionate and inspired efforts on all fronts are making a difference! So, for all those in this battle, will you help me raise more money to continue the fight? You can personally help me raise money for doing what I love - fishing in the annual Kolar ALS Fishing Tournament. There will be a split-tournament with one on Island Lake near Duluth (and hopefully a banquet at UMD) and a virtual tournament.
Because of the Clinical Trial, I will be fishing virtually to reduce my exposure to COVID-19. I would be happy to share more about the clinical trial with you, but in summary, the Biogen SOD1 ALS Clinical Trial has had its initial success published in the New England Journal of Medicine. I’ve had about 40 Lumbar Injections in San Diego and COVID-19 has complicated the logistics, but, in a year or two we may know more about the results.
My son, Derek, will fish with me and my daughter Laura, has boldly agreed to continue as our team's Marketing and Revenue Director, from her new home in Scottsdale, AZ. Linda, of course, participates, in all aspects of my new life, including fundraising, mentoring caregivers, supporting each organization in many ways, and paying the bills at home.
Why We Need Your Help...
I am sure your lives have become just as challenging as ours, maybe more, and all I can ask that if any of you feel you have weathered this COVID-19 Storm, that you consider making any donation. I have witnessed this disease take control of families that became friends, watched how they battle as hard as they can, only to lose and see their loved one die. Your gift will help fund programs designed to help individuals living with ALS and their families. Your gift will also go towards research to find a cause and cure for ALS.
What Do You Do Next...
You can help simply by making a charitable contribution. It's as easy as a click of the mouse. Know that you are helping people with ALS live with as much dignity as possible. Know that you are making a difference in so many lives.
Company Match Opportunities...
Corporate matching gifts are a type of philanthropy in which companies financially match donations that their employees make to nonprofit organizations. When an employee makes a donation, they'll request the matching gift from their employer, who then makes their own donation. Check to see if your employer will match your donation. We have links on our website that make this process very easy!
