TEAM TUVESON - Siblings Kay & Steve
Kolar ALS Fishing Tournament & Fundraiser
Every 90 minutes someone is told they have ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), and someone else dies from this horrible disease. People living with ALS eventually lose their strength, ability to move their arms, legs, and finally their ability to breathe on their own. In most cases, their minds remain intact. There is no cure for ALS, but with your donation you can make a difference in the lives of those afflicted with this deadly nervous system disease, and those who care for them.
On June 1, 2024, TEAM TUVESON along with two hundred (+-) other anglers will fish in the Kolar ALS Fishing Tournament and Fundraiser to raise money to support individuals living with ALS. We ask for your support as we fish to help those battling their illness.
TEAM TUVESON will probably have the distinction of fishing from the smallest boat in the tournament (unlike my husband who claimed dibs on our big boat for his team). TEAM TUVESON’s boat lacks a bimini top to protect us from snow, rain or blistering sun, as we all know Duluth’s weather is completely unpredictable. Our 25 horse power tiller outboard engine (no steering wheel) will bring us to all corners of the lake, it will just take us a few hours. We hope the reservoir’s water is very high. Our little boat will scoot smoothly under the bridge that cuts the reservoir in half while the big boats will might lose a windshield.
No live imaging fish finder equipment for us, although our boat is equipped with an old first-generation depth finder. And if we scratch, dent or hit rocks with the little boat — no worries as a few more dings won’t hurt our well-worn lake vessel. But, we are considering scattering glitter over the boat as an attempt to blend in with the fancy Ranger and Skeeter boats with their 300 hp engines.
Despite our handicaps, we expect to do well. In past years, Kay has finished in the top half of the contestants, and has beaten Eric several times despite his advantages of a fancy boat, high-tech electronics and more fishing tackle than Cabela's and Marine General combined. Your support may put us over the top again this year.
THANK YOU! Every dollar helps. If helping those living with ALS isn't enough of an incentive to give, for whomever makes the biggest donation to TEAM TUVESON I will do my darnedest to get Twins player, World Series winner x2, the great Kent Hrbek‘s autograph as a thank you gift for you. How, you ask? Well, Herbie is a co-sponsor of the event and an active participant.
