Black Woods Blizzard Tour & COVID-19

ALS doesn’t stop because of this crisis, and neither will we. But we will implement a variety of protocols in keeping with current guidance on event attendance from the CDC, state, city and other local agencies to keep our participants, volunteers, staff and host communities as safe as possible. These practices will be reviewed continuously up to event weekend and may be adjusted as directed by evolving medical information to ensure your safety.

Overall Safety Protocol

Because of the nature of the pandemic and the ever-changing climate, changes may be made up to the last minute. This could include the implementation of a masking requirement for indoor settings or proof of vaccination/negative test upon arrival at registration. All efforts will take place to make sure our participants, staff, volunteers, vendors, and sponsors have the most up to date information available. Here are some protocols which will be in place:
  • Pre-Event health screening of all staff, participants, and volunteers. (Coming soon!)
  • Reduced touchpoints to minimize physical interactions.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the event including registration, meals and higher traffic areas.
  • Face coverings will be recommended for all riders, volunteers, and staff throughout the event regardless of vaccination status for COVID-19. Riders may remove their masks when out on the trails, eating, or drinking.
  • Event signage will promote safe social distancing practices including maintaining 6 feet of distance or more between others.
  • Anyone at increased risk or exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 will be directed to stay home.
  • Per CDC Guidelines: Anyone who has come in close contact with someone with COVID-19 will be directed to stay home and away from the event for at least 5 days (day 0 through day 5) after the last contact with a person who has COVID-19. The date of exposure is considered day 0.

Preparing for Event Weekend

In advance of event weekend, participants will receive a copy of the health screening form that will be signed at check-in.

Health Screening

To ensure the safety of volunteers, participants, vendors and staff, all Black Woods Blizzard Tour participants will be required to complete a COVID-19 screening form acknowledging our safety protocols prior to checking in.

Proof of Vaccinations / Negative Testing

At this time, the Black Woods Blizzard Tour Board will not require proof of vaccination or negative test for its volunteers, participants, vendors or staff in order to participate in the event weekend. As conditions are continually changing with COVID-19, this requirement may change. If it does, the Black Woods Blizzard Tour will provide an update to all that will be taking part in the event weekend.
