Supporting Veterans
Supporting ALS & Veterans:
My Dad was serving in the Army in 1953, in 2003 just after he was diagnosed with ALS I was on a deployment to Bosnia. He passed away from ALS in April of 2006 while I was deployed to Iraq. In February of 2023 I rode in my first Black Woods Blizzard Snowmobile ride for ALS. The 240 riders raised over $1.8M on our 4 day event & I was honored to be named the “Rookie Rider of the Year” for my fundraising efforts.
As we celebrate Veterans Day, I think about the link between my service & my Dad. As my deployments overlapped his last years fighting ALS, as well as the fact that a military Veteran is 2x as likely to get ALS & a post 9/11 Veteran is 4x as likely to get ALS - yet, they don’t know why & there is no Cure & ALS is 100% Fatal.
And so, We Soldier On - raising funds to support those with ALS & to fund a Cure for ALS!!
Our fundraising goal for the 2024 ride is to raise $2M as a group! My personal goal is to raise $20,000 to fight ALS, I appreciate your thought & consideration in helping support ALS Care & Research!
Best,
Mitch
