Please Support Me...
For over 20 years, I have been a participant in the annual ALS Island Lake fishing tournament to raise money to help find a cure for this terrible disease. As some of you know, my good friend and co-author, David Herr, died of ALS in 2022.
The tournament will be held this year on June 1. Between 150 and 200 boats will be registered, each carrying a two-man team. My partner, Tom Brown, has fish with me in good and bad years. We have finished as high as sixth, and in other years have failed to land a fish. But each year we participate hoping we will catch the big one, and at the same time make a meaningful contribution.
You can help me raise money for the event by making a pledge [insert details]. I'm reaching out to you and others because you either knew David, know how much I like to fish, or are someone I consider a caring and generous person upon whom I can impose. Some of you are all three. In any event, you will help the cause greatly if you make a donation. Please give what you can. I've made a personal contribution of $500 to the event, and while I don't expect my friends to match that, I'm hopeful of raising money that can make a difference. If you can give $50-100 (or more if you are able), we can make that difference.
Thanks in advance for your support.
